Ragin', Cajun, Engagin' Weekend

So, here's the deal. Nick and I went camping in Big Sur it was the greatest weekend of my life! As everyone knows, we love to camp. What everyone may not know is that one of the reasons we love it so much is beer-can chicken. I'm not even lying. We seriously love the preperation, cooking, and especially the eating of this meal. We have every time we go camping. It is delicious, includes fun cajun seasonings, and we love it. (Clearly.)

At the conclusion of our fabulous beer-can chicken meal on Friday night, Nick asked me to pass the extra seasoning behind the paper towels. As I turned, he said, "oops! I dropped my fork!" and when I moved the paper towels, there was a beautiful box and when I turned to nick, he was on one knee. It was a beautiful, perfectly-timed proposal in the middle of one of the things we love most. Eating! (And camping!)

Over the course of the weekend, at other really fun or romantic times, he asked me to marry him again. On the beautiful beach, while listening to our song as the sun set, and as we shut our eyes before falling asleep sunday night. It was just so sweet, so fun and so perfect.

Oh, and for breakfast and dinner the following day, we used cajun seasonings again on our food so on the drive home yesterday, we named the weekend the Ragin' Cajun Engagin' Weekend and neither of us can stop saying it which I think is really funny.

And finally, the ring. As I've told him several hundred times, he didn't hit a home run-- he hit a grand slam! The ring is SOO STUNNING AND BEAUTIFUL. I love how unique yet classic it is. And most of all, I love that he designed it. He's a keeper.

I heart oscar

So, here's the deal. I work at an online magazine with a high focus on fashion (and celebrities). And twice a year we cover New York Fashion Week which is seven full days of fashion shows from 8am until 9pm. The designers are currently unveiling their Spring 2007 collections and it's been pretty interesting and fun. Since we're covering the NY from SF, it's late hours, lots of really bad junk food, but most of all, it's a lot of great fashion. So far, my favorite show has been oscar de le renta. I loved almost every single piece that floated down the runway. Here are three of my favorites:

One of the shows I was really looking forward to was Nanette Lepore (sorry nicole!) Her two previous collections were so pretty - the perfect mix of flirty meets feminine. And while her clothes are expensive, they aren't carolina herrera expensive, and could maybe, just maybe be in my price range on occasion. Anyway, her show was today and it just wasn't very good. I was so disappointed! Instead of pretty, it was punk-rock-y. It reeked of the early '80s and I'm sorry, but I just can't rock that shiznit. That said, there were a few cute looks and I've included them below (I like Nanette too much to include the bad ones, even though in all my days of headline writing, I know that people care more about the worst-dressed than the best-dressed. But oh well, it's my blog.):

See the difference in caliber between those two? It's shocking. Anyway, I'm off to discuss Narciso Rodriguez's show. Stayed tuned ... I'll have another Fashion Week update later in a few days!

I mean, just look at this shoe.

So, it's no secret I love Gucci, but MY GOD. This is the one of the greatest shoes I've ever seen. They will be mine. Oh yes, they will be mine.

I'm not normally her biggest fan, but...

So, while I really loved Legally Blonde (and it's sequel, though it wasn't as great as the first) and Cruel Intentions is absolutely in my DVD collection, Reese Witherspoon is not one of my favorite actresses. I don't dislike her, but she's never made my top 5 (or 10) list of Hollywood actresses.

That said, she looks sooooo pretty in this picture. So much so, that I felt I had to share it will all of you. I love her dress, belt, and shoes - she looks super cute.

Footnote: How crazy hot is Ryan Philippe? The answer is very.

miss marisa

So, about 7 months ago, a friend of mine told me about this perfume oil that was the best-smelling stuff ever. Apparently when she wore it, EVERYONE would stop and compliment her. Guys would salivate, women would pine for it, you know, the whole nine. She finally brought it into work one day and she was right -- it is one of the best-smelling things in the world. It's some tiny company, Ebba Los Angeles, and they have this 'Miss' collection. Miss Belle, Miss Alex -- but the best one, the one I purchased yesterday online and am counting down the minutes until it arrives, is Miss Marisa.

I know what you all are thinking. That I only like this scent because in an interview on Glam.com, Carmen Electra named it as her favorite scent. And because I love Carmen, I would automatically like this perfume. Well, that's not a bad call -- but I do seriously love this fragrance.

Once I get it, I'll wear it exclusively until it's gone. (Sorry Vera and Stella, your time has come and gone.) But this does bring me to my next point. This perfume is sold in .05 oz bottles of oil ($60 bucks a pop). That's reeeeeeal tiny. I'll let you know how long it lasts.

Also, hope Nick likes it!

Catherine Zeta-Jones

So, here's the deal Catherine. You're stunningly beautiful. Your accent is hot and your body is the envy of many (including other hollywood celebrities I'm sure.) You choose mostly good movies to star in and your Saturday Night Live visit was actually funny.

So, why on earth, did you marry Michael Douglas?

I realize that's not totally fair. I love Michael Douglas, I really do. I think he was awesome in American President (a movie i adored) and really funny in Jewel of the Nile and Romancing the Stone. He is Hollywood royalty so I get the attraction. But he's just so old. Actually, I retract that -- at age 62, he's not that old -- he's just too old for you. And is it me or has he stopped looking in the mirror before he leaves the house? He's looking a bit disheveled lately.

Either way, you two seem happy which is ultimately the goal. Your marriage has lasted 6 full years - that's gotta be one of the longest marriages in Hollywood history!
